Update from Translink on lane closure
BSCR contacted Translink on Saturday 12th October in regard to the lane closure just before the left turn access to Linfield Road.
We highlighted the severe impact on local residents, especially during busy traffic times and that by closing this section of this lane on Sandy Row will mean that residents who need to turn left into Linfield Road to get home will be forced into the next lane of traffic along with those who are being diverted away from the Boyne Bridge as part of their onward journey.
The residents who access Linfield Road to get to their homes have no other alternative way to get home, Linfield Road is the only access road for these residents, this is also the same for visitors, care workers attending to residents and those who work in Weavers Court.
We suggested more practical solutions such as temporary signage installed to inform drivers that the inside lane is for left turn only and no through road to with the right lane being for the diversion route or a left turn arrow on the inside lane on the road.

"We have been in discussion with DFI to see what can be done to improve the situation. The lane can’t simply be reopened because of the road markings and the traffic light phasing, but we have made some suggestions to DFI and waiting for their approvals."
They have also said they will provide a further update as soon as possible.
